Kaynes Technology India Ltd. has announced that a major global player is seeking the company’s entire printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing capacity.

The announcement comes as Kaynes prepares to launch commercial production of bare PCBs next quarter, handing its new business unit a crucial vote of confidence ahead of operations. 
The customer has already initiated factory trials at Kaynes’ manufacturing facility and issued a formal vendor code.

The development highlights the surging demand for high-quality PCBs amid an increasingly constrained global electronics supply chain. 

What Does Kaynes Technology Do?

Founded in 1989 by Ramesh Kunhikannan, Kaynes Technology India Ltd. is one of India’s leading end-to-end Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) companies.

Rather than selling finished consumer products, Kaynes operates primarily as a business-to-business (B2B) technology partner. It provides complete lifecycle design, engineering, component sourcing, testing, and mass manufacturing services for complex electronic hardware.

What Is a PCB (Printed Circuit Board)?

A Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is the fundamental backbone of modern electronics. It is a flat board made from non-conductive insulating material (such as fiberglass) lined with thin copper tracks or pathways.

These conductive copper tracks act as physical “wires,” routing electrical signals and power between different electronic components like microchips, resistors, capacitors, and transistors attached to the board.

Global Player Seeks 100% PCB Capacity: Key News Highlights

During the company’s recent earnings call, Ramesh Kunhikannan, Executive Vice Chairman of Kaynes Technology, confirmed that a single tier-1 global client is seeking to contract the plant’s total output.

Getting vendor code approval and full capacity request before commercial production begins provides substantial revenue visibility for Kaynes’ new bare-PCB business unit, Kaynes Circuits. 

Strategic Significance

Kaynes’ move into bare PCB manufacturing forms a major part of its backward-integration strategy. Traditionally, electronics assembly companies in India imported bare PCBs from overseas suppliers. By producing high-density interconnect (HDI) bare PCBs domestically, Kaynes reduces reliance on external component suppliers, improves turn-around times, and secures higher profit margins. 

By combining bare PCB fabrication, semiconductor packaging (OSAT), and electronics system design/assembly (EMS), Kaynes is positioning itself as an end-to-end semiconductor and ESDM major in India.
